Today Community Legal WA is excited to launch their new name and new logo as the peak body for Community Legal Centres in WA.

Community Legal Centres have been working in Western Australia for more than 30 years to advance human rights and social justice.  They play a vital role in ensuring everyday people can access the legal help they need, at the time they need it most.

Centres help community members who need legal help with advice and support so legal problems don’t spiral out of control or become too difficult to solve.

Each centre  is an independent community-based organisation providing free, or low cost legal help to their community.   Collectively they work together with Community Legal WA on law reform work and advocacy work.

As the peak body for Community Legal Centres we formed in 1990 to represent and support the community legal sector.   We were first known as the Federation of Community Legal Centres (Western Australia) Incorporated, before changing our name to the Community Legal Centres Association (WA) Incorporated in 2002.  Whilst the Association remains our incorporated body, today we are launching Community Legal WA as the public face of the Association.

We will soon be launching a new website with input from our Community Legal Centres to provided improved access to the public about the work and services available from centres across Western Australia.
