Guang’s Story Assisted by The Humanitarian Group Guang* is from China. A victim of human trafficking and serious human rights abuses, Guang applied to work in Australia via an online employment agency. Once she arrived, she was held against her will by the people for whom she intended to work, was trafficked and seriously mistreated. In 2015, she was referred to The Humanitarian Group for help across an array of complex matters. With the help of The Humanitarian Group, Guang was granted a temporary visa while she assisted the Australian Federal Police with their trafficking investigation. With further assistance from The Humanitarian Group, Guang was granted a permanent visa in 2019. She and her child can now start a chapter of life in safety. * Real names have not been used to respect the confidentiality of clients.
